Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. is pleased to announce their 9th annual A Celebration of Burgundy auction which will be held on Friday, April 17th and Saturday, April 18th. This standout sale, devoted exclusively to the wines of Burgundy, features over 2,500 lots that are projected to garner $4.8-7.3 million. Burgundy brings an energy to the market unlike any other region, and the auction house once again anticipates bidders joining them from around the globe. Over 180 Burgundian domaines are represented in the April sale, with vintages ranging from 1959 to 2017. World-renowned producers include Henri Jayer, Domaine Leroy, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Armand Rousseau, and many more. The bottles offered in this sale are the crown jewels of the wine world. Whether you are a seasoned Burgundy collector or just beginning to explore the region, this auction is well worth your time.

Friday’s session will offer an incredible range of consignments. Of special note is An Astronomers’ Collection (lots 81-314) which is estimated to realize approximately $850,000-1,200,000. This collection offers a wonderful selection of Burgundies meant to be enjoyed. The husband and wife who built this collection have carefully sourced and stored all bottles in an impeccably built home cellar, with meticulous records of the wine. Highlights from the group include two 1996 DRC Assortments (lots 97-98, est. $32,000-48,000); 5 bottles of 1993 Bonnes-Mares, Domaine d'Auvenay (Leroy) (lot 170, est. $16,000-24,000); and 10 bottles of 1993 Chambertin, Clos de Bèze, Armand Rousseau (lot 239, est. $30,000-45,000). Collectors should bid with confidence on this wonderful cellar.

Following An Astronomers’ Collection is another large collection, A Treasure Trove of Young and Mature Burgundy with a Variety in Full Cases and Large Format Featuring Leroy, Rousseau, and Dujac (lots 315-776). All wines in this group were purchased upon release and many directly from Europe. Burgundy enthusiasts should note 12 bottles of 1999 Romanée-St-Vivant, Domaine Leroy (lot 436, est. $38,000-55,000); 10 bottles of 1999 Chambolle-Musigny, Les Amoureuses, Georges Roumier (lot 606, est. $28,000-42,000); and a magnum of 1988 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux, Henri Jayer (lot 660, est. $10,000-15,000).

Additional highlights from Friday’s session will include 6 bottles of 2011 Chevalier-Montrachet, Domaine d'Auvenay (Leroy) (lot 33, est. $19,000-28,000); three 3-bottle lots of 1990 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux, Henri Jayer (lots 54-56, est. $28,000-42,000); and 6 bottles of 2014 Meursault, Les Perrières, Coche-Dury (lot 895, est. $9,000-14,000).

Saturday’s session will offer An Exceptional Collection of Finest and Rarest Burgundy Featuring Multiple Vintage Offerings of Leroy (lots 1330-1731). Anticipated to realize approximately $700,000-1,100,000, the collection offers pristine bottles with vintages spanning from 1976 to 2006. Highlights include 4 bottles of 1996 Richebourg, Domaine Leroy (lot 1456, est. $13,000-19,000); 2 bottles of 2002 Musigny, Georges Roumier (lot 1612, est. $12,000-18,000); and a full case of 2002 Clos Vougeot, René Engel (lot 1682, est. $9,000-14,000). These wines have excellent provenance and have been stored carefully in a custom-built, temperature- and humidity-controlled home cellar; bid with confidence.

Also to come across the auction block on Saturday are 3 bottles of 2015 La Tâche, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (lot 1736, est. $9,500-14,000); 6 bottles of 1993 La Tâche, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (lot 1798, est. $15,000-22,000); 2 bottles of 2014 Montrachet, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (lot 1837, est. $9,500-14,000); 3 bottles of 2015 La Romanée, Comte Liger-Belair (lot 2151, est. $13,000-19,000); and two single-bottle lots of 2009 Musigny, Domaine Leroy (lots 2509-2510, est. $13,000-19,000).
