Bidding is Now Open for November Auction

Bidding is now open for our November auction: An Outstanding Private Collection and A Celebration of Bordeaux to be held on Thursday, November 14th, Friday, November 15th, and Saturday, November 16th. Bidders can utilize HDH’s industry-leading bidding platform, available via our mobile app or online, to place live and absentee bids.

The Thursday session of the November auction is truly special, being a single-owner offering, An Outstanding Private Collection. The consignor of the group is a long-time friend of Hart Davis Hart’s and a well-known collector. He has an attention for detail and provenance and his wines are in impeccable condition. Wines offered in the past have always been very well received, and HDH is truly excited to offer this more extensive collection.

Browsing through the group is like reading a history book. There is 19th century Bordeaux; Burgundy from the 1950s; the sweet-fortified Málaga Solera from 1885; 1958 Barolo Riserva, Vini Pregiati from Giacomo Conterno. These are just a few of the gems to be found in the collection – the incredible depth of the overall group is breathtaking.

The Friday and Saturday sessions will be dedicated to the region of Bordeaux, with our 6th annual A Celebration of Bordeaux auction. This special auction consistently sees fierce competition between bidders from around the globe, and HDH expects nothing less for this sale.

Over 110 Châteaux are represented in this sale, with wines dating back to 1928. There is over a half-million dollars’ worth of Château Lafite Rothschild alone, with mature offerings from top vintages like 1982, 1986, 1989, 1990, alongside younger bottlings from the 2015 and 2016 vintages, and more. There is an exceptional and impressive selection of this First Growth.

The highly-sought Château Pétrus is prominent in the November auction with 13 vintages to come across the auction block. This Pomerol estate is one of the most celebrated wines in the world and has produced a tremendous number of legendary vintages. Bidders should not miss the opportunity to bring these bottles home.

Hart Davis Hart is pleased to offer another selection from The Fox Cellar (lots 1857-1907) which includes top wines from the 2015 and 2016 vintage, almost all in 6- or 12-bottle original wooden cases.

The Saturday session includes two noteworthy offerings: Historic 1939 Château Cheval Blanc (lot 2077) and Wines Directly from Château Montrose (lots 2078-2131A).

A special 6-bottle case of 1939 Château Cheval Blanc, now 80 years old, will be offered. This wine was purchased by Bordeaux négociant Mähler-Besse during the Second World War and has been lying in their cellars until recently when Mähler-Besse and Cheval Blanc collaborated to offer a special release of this historic wine. Pierre-Olivier Clouet and his technical team from the Cheval Blanc meticulously checked and tasted each bottle to guarantee outstanding quality. All bottles have been topped up with the 1939 vintage, recorked to guarantee further storage, and dressed by hand with the original label. HDH is pleased to offer case #1 of hist historic release of the 1939 Château Cheval Blanc.

Immediately after this lot is a wonderful selection of Wines Directly from Château Montrose. In 2017, HDH and Montrose offered, for the first time, a full barrel of the 2016 vintage. The lot included the opportunity to format the barrel in any configuration desired up to the size of Primat with personalized labels on the back, and a dinner with Hervé Berland at Château Montrose. This year, Hart Davis Hart will offer a similar opportunity with the 2018 Château Montrose, which is another incredible vintage for St-Estèphe and Montrose.

Bordeaux enthusiasts should carefully peruse this auction. There is an incredible range of wines from the region and something for every type of collector.
