Bidding is now open for HDH's February Auction of Finest & Rarest Wines to be held on February 26th & 27th starting at 9:00am ET both days. Valued at an estimated $5.8-8.7 million, the sale will feature over 2,060 lots of incredible diversity and provenance, representing every major wine producing region in the world. Bidders can utilize HDH’s industry-leading bidding platform, available via their mobile app or online, to place live and absentee bids.
HDH is thrilled to offer The Very Best Burgundy from A Preeminent American Collector (lots 1133-1604). Headlining the sale, this collection represents the finest Burgundy available on the market and is one of the most exciting groups ever
to be offered at auction. Provenance and storage were of the utmost importance to the consignor who maintains an underground custom cellar with 18” thick granite walls.
The owner of the group has meticulously curated a selection of legendary wines: 96 lots of Armand Rousseau, 69 lots of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, 67 lots of Georges Roumier, 60 lots of Domaine Leroy, 36 lots of Domaine Dujac, 27 lots of Claude Dugat, and more. It is brimming with highlights, but a few select lots of interest include a single bottle of 1999 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (est. $15,000-22,000); 12 bottles of 2005 Clos de la Roche, Domaine Dujac (est. $10,000-15,000); 4 bottles of 1991 Latricières-Chambertin, Domaine Leroy (est. $11,000-17,000); 3 magnums of 2005 Chambolle-Musigny, Les Amoureuses, Georges Roumier (est. $24,000-35,000); and a full case of 2002 Chambertin, Armand Rousseau (est. $28,000-42,000).
A Professor’s Curated Selection (lots 74-252) will be offered in the morning of Friday’s session. The wines represented from this cellar were all chosen with great care, based on the consignor’s own drinking
interest and that of his wife and friends. The passion and curiosity for wine can be seen throughout the group with selections from prominent producers like Méo-Camuzet, Georges Roumier, Armand Rousseau, Anne Gros, Marius Gentaz-Dervieux, Egon Müller, and more. Highlights from the group include a full case of 1999 Echézeaux, Henri Jayer for Georges Jayer (est. $40,000-60,000); 2 bottles of 1999 Musigny, Georges Roumier (est. $16,000-24,000); and 4 bottles of 1988 Côte Rôtie, Côte Brune, Cuvée Reservée, Marius Gentaz-Dervieux (est. $8,000-12,000).
Don’t miss the opportunity to bring home a Château-direct limited release from Léoville Las Cases. HDH will offer case number one of the special wooden presentation box which depicts part of a map of the historical part of their vineyard. Collectors will be able to complete the map with another case to be released next year,
completing the diptych display. The Collection Miroir - Millesimes Secrets (est. $4,000-6,000) offers bidders the chance to bring home the unique case which includes a single bottle of the 1988, 1995, 1998, 2001, 2003, and 2003 vintages of Léoville Las Cases. The winning bidder will
also have the opportunity to tour the Château’s vineyard and the newly constructed winery as well as a dinner or lunch with owner Jean-Hubert Delon.
Additional highlights from the auction include 5 bottles of 1982 Barolo Riserva, Collina Rionda, Bruno Giacosa (est.
$11,000-17,000); a full case of 1990 Château Cheval Blanc (est. $9,000-14,000); and a 6-liter of 1995 Ermitage, Cuvée Cathelin, Jean-Louis Chave (est. $35,000-55,000).
