Hart Davis Hart Wine Co., America's #1 wine auction house, closes out its successful spring season with a monumental June auction that achieved a total of $7.1 million against pre-sale estimates of $4.2-6.3 million. These impressive numbers were the result of exciting bidding activity seen throughout both sessions of the sale, and from bidders from all around the world. HDH has sold 100% of all lots offered at auction in 2021 and repeatedly sees the strongest prices realized in the industry.

A highlight of the sale was A Treasure Trove of Young and Mature Burgundy, which offered top wines from the likes of DRC, Leroy and Rousseau as well as exciting lots from around the world. Serious bidding activity brought soaring prices on lots such as 8 bottles of 2001 Clos Vougeot, Domaine Leroy which sold for $38,240 (lot 290, est. $16,000-24,000); 12 bottles of 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos St-Jacques, Armand Rousseau which garnered $26,290 (lot 332, est. $14,000-20,000); and a magnum of 1988 Dom Pérignon Rosé, P3 which brought in $5,378 (lot 345, est. $2,200-3,200).

Leroy prices in particular dominated, as Friday saw an incredible selection of lots from the esteemed producer hammer above the high estimate. 12 bottles of 1992 Romanée-St-Vivant Domaine Leroy achieved $50,190 (lot 901, est. $18,000-28,000); 3 bottles of 2009 Chambertin, Domaine Leroy sold for $38,240 (lot 928, est. $17,000-26,000); 2 bottles of 2000 Chambertin, Domaine Leroy brought in $17,925 (lot 1446, est. $9,000-14,000); and 3 bottles of 2000 Latricières-Chambertin Domaine Leroy saw $14,340 (lot 1449, est. $7,000-10,000).

It should come as no surprise that a single jeroboam of 2004 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti exceeded the high estimate, however, with a selling price of $101,575, lot 1127 climbed well above it's original pre-sale estimate of $40,000-60,000, selling for 254% of the low estimate. Further DRC highlights included 3 bottles of 1990 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti that sold for $95,600 (lot 166, est. $60,000-90,000); a 12 bottle 2001 DRC Assortment Case that garnered $53,775 (lot 479, est. $32,000-48,000); and 6 bottles of 2010 Richebourg, Domaine de la Romanée-Cont that brought in $21,510 (lot 617, est. $12,000-18,000).

Additional highlights from the sale included a magnum of 1970 Trotanoy, which sold for $4,183 (lot 9, est. $1,600-2,400); 7 bottles of 2002 Jacques Selosse, Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, Extra Brut which brought in $8,365 (lot 406, est. $4,000-6,000); and a single bottle of Screaming Eagle's inaugural 1992 vintage achieved $14,340 (lot 1169, est. $6,500-9,500).

As the leading wine auction house in the U.S., HDH has a proven track record of excellence, and continues to exceed its competition in terms of market share, technology, and sell-through rate. HDH’s next sale will be held on August 12th & 13th and will feature an exceptional selection of wine.
